The guests for this party came from all corners of the country and some from overseas for this very close extended family get-together. Many of the guests camped over in the fields that surrounded the hosts house. Some even brought their own camper vans. The guests were aged between 8 and 90 all with different expectation of the food provided for this celebration. Because of questionable weather a marquee had been hired and we parked right beside it and set up our own tent to protect the salad and condiments bar. All very good precautions as it rained on and off for most of the day. Because we had planned for such an eventuality the spirit of this party wasn’t dampened in the the least. In fact it was a celebration highlighted with good humour and family bonding.
We served a simple but tasty menu which included our famous 8 hour smoked pulled pork, a dish of chicken breasts poached in butter, lemon and thyme ( a request from the hostess that went down a storm) then served on a panini with salad and a special Mayo based sauce we created for this dish. This was followed by three salads – which happened to be our three most popular – Potato, Coleslaw and green salad with cherry tomatoes.
